    Hello,
Currently I seem to have problems with most of my grapics software)Photoshop,Aftereffects, poser.
I am loosing lots of functions after about 3 hours work and I can only Reeboot the system to restore, could this be a Page file issue?

I have 3 GIG of Ram,
2046 Mb of page file allowed on all drives,
    4092 on Main drive(programs.

    regards

    Pete

  2. i'd change the page file setup a bit, but i don't think it's the problem. i'd put the entire page file on one drive, i use the boot drive. it should ususally be twice the size of installed ram so 6GB. no page files on the other drives will keep things from becoming fragmented over multiple drives.

sounds like some program you are using has a memory leak, keep an eye on memory usage in task manager and see if you see a program keep using more ram as time goes on. if you do try to get an update, or report it to the software company.

Some ppl use a swap drive or partition other than the boot drive for better performance

  4. i find letting windows "have" the boot drive exclusively works well. all my work is done on drives other than it. all my source, destination, and temp folders are on other separate physical drives.

    works here

  5. With 3 GB of DRAM I'd disable the swap file. But from the description of your problem one of your programs has a memory leak.

I also found the Edit->Purge->All functions keeps me going when any of my After Effects functions get unusually sluggish.
There are no problems - only chances to excel.

    Hi,
Thanks to everone who contributed in solving my problem,
I will certainly increase the page file, leave it on the boot drive, and get an up date for the guilty software.
    Question though,
What if I were to put say 5 MB on the boot file and the rest on my secondry drive??

you can put it anywhere you want. it's better to just have one though, no fragmenting that way.
