I have started to burn with VIDEO_TS folders using imgburn.

I went through about 25 DVD+R's from a company called Corner Office that can be bought at walgreens. They all worked fine. So then I purchased some Maxell DVD+R and none worked. So I switched and bought a Verbatim DVD-R and a couple worked and a couple didn't. I'm confused.

Some things that I'm thinking about:
--Burning speed. I limited it to x2 so it doesn't mess up
--I've seen a lot about region hacks??? Maybe that's a problem?

    ANY help would be lovely.

Your problem has absolutely nothing at all to do with region hacks.

We know nothing about what you are doing. Well, at least you told us what brands of media you used. Some players are fussy. The ONLY consistently good media available in North America is either Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden (you will have to order these online).

Without more details on exactly how you are creating these DVDs prior to burning, anything would just be a guess. It could be a bad burner as johns0 suggested. It could be bad media or your process is wrong. Not enough info to go on.

Well I'm sorry for not giving enough information it's not like I know exactly what would help you guys. I have movies which come in a VIDEO_TS folder.

I open imgburn and select "build" and put it under "device". I select the folder and burn.

The process in which I'm burning has not changed. It's only the DVDR's that have changed. If this is too complicated I'll just go to the first brand I bought.

Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden generally work for everyone. Conner Office discs are likely to be terrible quality, so do understand that while they may work fine for you now, in a year or two they could be unreadable. Yes, it does happen with bad media.

Your player may simply have problems with DVD-R media and may have some preference for DVD+R and that may be the real reason that those discs worked OK for you. If you were to try some Verbatim DVD+R discs you might be fine. If your player is 3+ years old, it could be a preference for DVD+R as I said. Newer players shouldn't care.

Let me try to update you guys:

I burned a couple movies on my Verbatim DVD-R and they worked. Yet now it seems like none of my movies are working anymore. The latest movies that I tried burning on a Verbatim DVD-R were playable on my computer but not the DVD player.

Is there any way to trouble shoot to find what the problem is? Because it seems that there are too many variables to determine what the cause of the problem is.

Edit: It sounds like a burner problem maybe? And since it's the burner in my laptop how would I fix that? But, I tried to burn one on my girlfriend's burner (same movie, same dvd type) and it didn't work either.

I have not authored them myself. But the fact that multiple movies have not worked since the problem started I'm not sure if their authoring is the problem.

You still didnt answer the question, they had to be authored to begin with, are they ripped from a home movie that plays ok as a dvd or is it ripped from a store bought dvd or downloaded?

Well, anything could be wrong with downloaded files. However, you may not know that DVD video requires UDF version 1.02. I'm not sure if ImgBurn will default to that or not. It's possible that you are using another format, maybe a higher UDF version or even ISO instead. That would cause your discs to not play on a DVD player.
