  1. Can't believe there is'nt any topic about divx. why is your pc too slow to view divx files?

to the point, When it is mpg files i use the mode 2 to burn files larger than 700 mb, but what about divx? what do i do then?

(i use the 700mb cdr disc)

  2. 1. VCDHELP.com -- does that answer your question?

    2. You can only burn DivX files as CD-ROMs. If it is really on 703 MB, then why don't you just try overburning an 80min/700MB disc. It should work on most newer drives. Or else, you could try 90/99min media if your drive supports it. Otherwise, you don't really have any other options except cropping off a part of the file.

  3. Actually most disks will gladly accept a couple of MBs extra over their size. I have tonnes of Imation 650 MB disks which do accept Divx files as large as 654MB without any problem and my PNY 700MB disks very well accept 703MB files.

I have an old Pacific Digital (manufactured by HP) burner and Adaptec 5 Platinum s/w.

So I think you should try. Just make sure you burn as DISK-AT-ONCE.

  5. Well then I guess Nero does not like 3 MB extra over 700MB

Do you have luxary of trying Adaptec (Roxio) Platinum 5 ?

If not, then here are your options.

    1) My very good friend has Nero 5 and he confirmed this morning that he has siccessfully burned upto 702 MB onto 700 MB disks. So maybe 703 is just crossing the final line. Try removing some footage (worth an MB or so). Use virtualdub (direct stream copy) for this purpose. You can target something like a portion of end credit which is not all that important

    2) If none of the footage is despensible, then you may want to play with audio to reduce the size. What is the audio format ? If it is wave then encode it into MP3 and then perhaps you can fit the whole movie with mp3 audio even on 650MB disk !!!!!

If the audio is mp3 then dicompress it into wave and re-encode with slightly lower bitrate. You won't even notice the difference. You will have to be really really insane to claim that your ears sensitive enough to differentiate between 224kb mp3 and 192kb mp3 :P

Somehow just bring the size down by at least one MB, and you will be able to burn it on one 700MB disk in Nero. Give a shot !!!

  6. Try opening the file in Virtualdub
Search to the end credits and select that portion of the video and do a direct stream copy incl the audio
then delete the selected credits from the timebar thingy ok now open up another virtualdub open the credits u just copied and rencode the video with a really low bitrate
then append the newly encoded credits to ur original video
ull shave a cpl of mb of the credits doing this most likely
    So it shoudl fit
Let me know how it goes
