  1. I have Ulead VideoStudio 11 Plus. I have files that are xvid and a mkv file. Nether will open with VS. Is there a way to open these files? I want to put them on a DVD.

    Thank you,
    Chris.

If you don't need to edit them then you really don't need to use VideoStudio.

Try AVStoDVD or DVD Flick for free options. Either of these will convert your videos and author them ready to burn.

If you want to use VideoStudio for authoring (I don't know what's it's authoring tools are like) then use AVStoDVD and set the output for elementary streams. You can then use these to author with in VideoStudio

You might try changing their properties using fourcc, setting both fields to divx. It's worth a shot. I have had to do that in Sony Vegas a few times.

  4. I installed AVStoDVD. When I tried to open the files, It wouldn't. I got an error message, "input past end of file."

Chris, please, use the "+" button on the right to add video files. You have used the "Open Project" button, to be used when you have already made and saved a AVStoDVD project....

  6. OK, that you, that worked.
One problem now, it defaults to PAL. I switched it to NTSC, but when I "start" it says PAL.
    What can I do?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

  7. Wow! this thing sure is slow. I have 3 files I want to put on a DVD. About 2 hours total. This thing will take about 7 hours.

You have an old PC with not much memory - at least according to your computer details - what do you expect ?

    Anyway, quality takes time.

  9. The computer has more memory now. The first file I tried didn't open in Video studio. I changed the default output folder but it switches just like the PAL setting.
Guess quality keeps switching folders and other settings.

  10. I see the setting is DVD. Maybe I should of done it in mpeg2 for videostudio to see it?
I need the 3 files to be seamless into one on a DVD. Was hoping to have chapters.
That's what I was going to use videostdio for. To make the 3 into 1, and chapters.

ConvertXtoDVD can join multi-part files into one, as can DVD Flick. In both cases it is a simple matter of adding the first file to create the title, then adding the subsequent parts to the same title and encoding.

  12. I was tiered last night, but went back in and found where to set defaults. I did another try with mpeg2 but it's still not able to open it.
