Hi guys, this is my first post!
I don't know where to post my question, so I'm posting it here.

I have a question about Sony SLV-SE230 VHS recorder.
It has the SP/LP butto, but when I press it, I got the message "Not supported on this model..."
Is there some way to enable LP function, with some key combination (like making region-free DVD player)?
Or something else? I tried to Google, but nothing.

    P.S.

A: I'm the only one in house interested in DVD recorders, and HDD recorders are not so cheap in Croatia.

Some VCRs did not support LP mode. I think they could play tapes recorded in this mode from other VCRs but they could not record in LP mode themselves. Maybe this is true of your VCR.

No. When I insert LP tape, it recognizes LP mode - counter runs at 2x speed because of SP speed playing. And when I press SP/LP button, "...not supported on this model...".

Re-read what Jman98 posted - he is describing exactly what is happening to you. As he said, some players can recognise and play back tapes recorded in LP mode using another player, but cannot record in LP mode themselves.
