Why not just by a home VCD recorder Sams now carries the terapin VCD recorder for $199 and it also record Audio CD's, it can use 74mi. or 80min. CD-R's or CD-RW's, I bought one and tried it out, cool little machine but not for me I will wait for a DVD recorder they are allready down to $999 for the home units, $299 for a computer DVD recorder.
I have actually tried all the software MPEG software out there none of them results in a good MPEG1 VCD.
I finally broke down and bought a Happuage PVR for $199 that records great MPEG2 on the fly from 1150 to 12000 bitrate from 240x112 to 720x576 resolution.
