Movie maker -- remove audio ?

I'm getting ready to work on a project later and wanted to ask something first --

When I record both video and audio on my camcorder and the import the movie into
movie maker, are the video and audio files recorded separately?

If I don't like the audio and decide I want to add a different track, can I delete the movie audio?

I see in the timeline there are separate windows for video and audio.

You can't unlink or delete the audio in WMM, but you can mute it. If you then add an audio track, that will take precedence, and is effectively the same as replacing the audio.
