  1. Excuse me my ignorance, but I can't find an answer to my newbie question. Can I capture video from a digital camcorder and then transfer it to VHS using a graphics card with TV-out, like GeForce 2 Titanium, or do I need a dedicated video capture card? I have a 1.8 GHz Pentium 4 computer. Thank you for your help!

  2. You need a capture card to capture video from your camcorder to PC and I can't think of any other way to do that. Once your video has been captured, you can use your TV-out of your video card to "export" video to your VHS with special software such as Adobe Premiere. If you don't mind and you need to touch up your video at all, you can do a direct camcorder to VHS dup.

  3. Thanks. I definitely want to work on my movies before transferring them to VHS. Can you suggest an inexpensive but good capture card? I am considering ATI's DV-Wonder or TV-Wonder.

If you are using a DV cam, firewire card is worthy, plus a Video Editing software like Ulead Media Pro 5 or 6, or like as mentioned earlier Adobe Premier.
This softwares are capable of transferring videos from your DV Cam <===> PC (vice versa).

I am a quite beginner on this environment but manage to do it by myself
