Which Nvidia card is good/best for Badaboom video conversion (I am not a gamer)? Does an expensive card convert faster? How much? Are there reviews testing different cards to compare the performance? Has anyone used Badaboom?

8000 series or above. Only tested one card. Very fast. Terrible quality. Designed for small-screen portable devices. IMO, not yet ready for prime time. ATI Avivo may, or may not, be a better alternative.

Reviews I've seen of Avivo are even worse.
