"New" Best Buy DVD Player Comes With Free Porn DVD

This picture is essentially the epitome of why it's really messed up that Best Buy will take a piece of used or returned equipment and sell it as new... eventually someone is going to get a DVD player with a copy of "Buckets of Cum" in the disc drive. The caption on the photo submitted to our Flickr pool reads,

When we went to Best Buy and purchased a cheap DVD player after our old one broke, we were surprised to find "Buckets of Cum" in the DVD player. Ewwwwww...apparently, even though it was sold to us as new, it was actually used. I tried to call Best Buy that night, but they were already closed.

I guess it's an improvement; instead of stealing our porn, Best Buy is giving it to us for free.

This story pops up almost every year, and I'm pretty sure the original case that this urban legend is based off was proven as fake.

Here is the one from 2006: http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?section=news/local&id=4037970
It was against Walmart that time.

I recall hearing this about VHS and Beta tapes when I was in school growing up. Also an urban legend.

What happened in smurf's link and probably in zzyzzx's link was that after buying the player, someone was watched porn, forgot the DVD in the player, then got embarrassed and blamed the store for their desire to see "Buckets O' Cum". Especially in the second story, they make it a point to mention how Christian and moral they are "in our house".

The funniest part is where they mention that Aiptek or whatever refused to comment. Like they really care about the 3rd or 4th party goings-on. That ain't their business if BB or the customer puts something in the player after it leaves them.

Would be a pretty funny prank if it did originate at the manufacturer (but in that case it would be bootleg Chinese porn).
