  1. I have been creating VCD's for about three monthss now and this is the best website I have found on the subject. I made several VCD's from DVD movies without a problem and then I started making one hour VCD's which did not require cutting. After about 10 of these I noticed I could not advance the slider to view later in the mpeg, without Windows Media Player freezing up. I just assumed the mpeg was fine (with no sync problems) and I would burn them to CD-R's. Now I'm trying to do a DVD movie and when I use TMPGE to cut the mpeg, the program freezes up. I tried other cutting programs and they freeze up. I recently upgraded to Window Media Player 7. I uninstalled it and the older version of the media player freezes when I try to advance the slider to later in the mpeg. I've tried other players that will play mpegs and it also freezes up when I try to advance the mpeg. So the bottom line is what could be causing the media players to freeze when I advance in the mpeg and what's causing TMPGE to freeze when I try to cut the mpeg.

    Thanks for your help,
    Bill

  2. My guess is that you have a few codecs which are incompatible trying to play back your MPEG content, I suggest you uninstall ANY mpeg playing software you have installed, boot up the PC, and get to a situation where you are no longer able to playback MPEG.

Then install Windows Media Player 7.1, boot up, and see if you can now play and move the slide bar in the player.

  3. I got Windows Media & TMPGE back up and running. I uninstalled DVD2MPG and everything is back to normal. I recently installed the program and that's obviously where the conflict was coming from. You're a great bunch of guys and I'm going to be a frequent visitor and this will be the first place I'll go if I have a problem.

  4. Ohh!! I know what the problem was, pity you didn't mention you used it, you propably used the Enable, and forgot to use the Disable!
DVD2MPG uses InterVideo codecs for playing back the movie and capturing, to do the ripping, you must enable (register codecs) so it can open the movie and when you are done you MUST disable (unregister codecs) for WMP and the rest of the system to work properly!

You can reinstall the program if you use it, although it is a bit antiqueated
