DFX 9 Audio Enhancer

Dear Friends,

I bought and installed the "DVX Audio Enhancer" program on my laptop with the understanding that it would permit me to boost the audio volume of DVD movies as needed.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on my laptop, which is a Hewlett-Packard Pavilion dv9700t with Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit OS installed on it; I get no volume boost at all.

So far I haven't gotten any useful support from the company, besides a FAQ that tells me that my problem is "a DRM protected track is being played by a media player that does not support DRM-protected audio processing". That doesn't give me any really useful advice as to how to overcome the problem.

Anyone familiar with the DVX program, <http://www.fxsound.com/dfx/index.php?vendor=0&subvendor=0&plus=0&refer=0> or the problem I'm having?

I might say that I am trying to boost the audio of the film "Laura" on a DVD.

Try play your dvd-video using vlc. I can "boost" the volume pretty good using it. If that wont help then I would try ac3filter. Install it and in the settings increase the gain. Play the DVD using WMP or media player classic.

Seems to be a historical problem, with some blaming BillG. There is a hack here -

Simply renaming a file - but note the caveat.

Dear Friends,

I'm sorry; the program with which I'm having trouble is the "DFX Audio Enhancer" --"F", not "V".

With that correction, are there any further ideas?
