My LG DRT389H dvd recorder is playing me about It formats new discs ok, in 1-2 mins, I use Verbatim +RW x4. But now once formatted it takes for ever to read the disc, and will not accept the new disc as being ok to record onto.

It will also not accept -RW discs. Spoke to LG support who told me to do a factory re-set, this I did but to no avail

I was hoping it takes longer to read new discs but this is a bit much, if I leave it to read, eventually it ejects the disc.

Would it be advisable to do another factory re-set, or give it up as a bad joke.

my #1 guess would be that the lazer is on it's way out. you could try to clean the lazer lens
and see if that works. did you try unplugging the unit and leave it sit for awhile??

Just a quick up-plug, but was considering getting a laser head cleaner.
