    What is the best software for converting DVD movies so that we can sync it with an iPhone? Any good ones around that are free?

    Videora, Xvid4PSPS, Handbrake, MeGUI, Avanti, WinFF. All free, and all (i am pretty sure) have iPod/iPhone presets.

    None of the suggested software works in a virtualized environment for some reason. I can get teh final conversion done after the movie has been ripped. Now I just need to rip the movie to 1 single file. What is the best method for doing this?

    What environment are you actually running ?
    What is your base OS ?

    Rip with DVDFab HD Decrypter, movie only, then use VOB2MPG to produce a single mpg file with the video and audio track you want. Convert from there.
