    I have an iphone type phone and want to use this car charger. Will it damage the phone.
    Anyone know about these things?

    Assuming the center pin polarity is correct, it should work.

    The key is that the charger must provide the correct voltage. The amperage will be determined by the device, so you only need to make sure that the charger provides the correct voltage with at least the correct amp rating of the phone. Assuming the travel charger came with the phone, it indicates that the phone will draw less than 400mA. The car charger will allow up to 5 times that so it would be good.

    If the car charger was only rated for 300mA, then I would say no, because the phone may draw more than that. But 300mA may work if the phone itself were rated for, say 250mA, even though they packaged it with the higher rated charger.
