  1. Hi all,

I have always got grat help from the people here and I am hoping that I can get some more please.

I have the following items to capture my old 8mm tapes to avi format and and having some troubles.

Advent Intel Celeron M410 1.46GHz Laptop with 1GB Ram running under Windows XP (home edition).
    Sony EV-C45E Video 8 VCR.
    Belkin Videobus II.
    Virtual VCR.
    VirtualDub.
    Window Moviemaker.
    WinDV.
    CCCP codec.
    ACE Mega Codec pack.

What I want to do is:
Copy my 8mm footage to avi file so I can compile DVD's for my Mum of holidays in the past for her.

    My problems:

VirtualDub - Shows nothing not even a preview of the footage.
VirtualVCR - Show footage but gets no audio.
Windows Moviemaker - Captures Video but no audio and puts it into wmv format.

Someone Must know what's going wrong. Please can you help me I was hoping to get this sorted. I checked the original files to see if the audio was correput but it plays ok through a camcorder.

  2. Use the software that came with the Videobus to capture. What you are seeing is typical with USB capture devices -- only the software that comes with them can capture from them properly.
