That's right boys, girls, and boys pretending to be girls.

After nearly a decade of being a 100% Apple house, I got a Dell Laptop for Christmas. Granted, it's running Linux and now Windows, but it's still a non-Apple computer.

Times are changing people. Be prepared.

I was waiting for someone to say this so I could rub it in their face that from day 1 I had a third party 2 button mouse. So I suppose that takes me down a notch in my former Apple fanboy ranking.

Last night I reformed the laptop and installed Linux Mint. The Ubuntu install Dell has on there was customized by Dell and had extra menus and settings I didn't want, plus Mint was always the OS I wanted.

Overall I love it. It serves its purpose perfectly and allows me to finally be Open Source.

So why didn't you buy a mactel and dual boot?

I'm not against you switching to pc obviously I'm just curious as to why you did not take advantage of the feature since you "were" a apple person.....

I detail my decision here: http://tgpo.org/?p=19

In a nutshell, I didn't need a super computer so I went for the cheapest.

I just became an Apple Computer owner for the first time. About 3 months ago, I picked up a box of junked laptops and parts - there were enough parts to put together a functional White iBook G3. I think that it is a 500 mhz PPC processor, but can't tell for sure - 12 inch screen with broken hinge, 20 GB HD with OSX 10.1.5 that was in Japanese ( it was an adventure to get it into English ), 64 mb ram that I upgraded to 192 mb, DVD Rom drive, no Airport card. It does not hold the time, and defaults to 12/31/1969 ( can't seem to figure this out - dead battery, but where? ) - but does not seem to cause any problems. Also, missing a lot of screws. It was fun to build, but I have no clue what to do with it - I am a PC person - so, right now it is a paperweight :P

I was very surprised that the drives are IDE - I thought that apple used SCSI

    Very simple looking motherboard.

There is an icon on the desktop that says: Desktop (Mac OS 9) - not sure why, since it is OSX 10.1.5

@tgpo - ah yes the almighty dollar makes decisions easier sometimes

Now I wouldn't refues an apple if one was given to me. However I would have to add 150.00 to 200.00 cost to it off the top since I don't have a standalone copy of XP or Vista to install on it (just the oem copies of xp and vista premium that came with the two pc's I own).

    I meant useful right-click

And I think that you mean "a Windows bootable computer...", because, technically, they're all PCs. (They should actually remove Justin Long from the ads, as they would both be John Hodgmans (Hodgmen?).
