  1. Hi, thanks to vcdhelp.com I've been making VCD's for months (I use a Sony D8 and Ulead Video Studio 4.0 to capture/render and Nero 5.5 to burn). I just ordered a Pioneer DVD burner (DVR-A03) and I want to make sure I've got what I'll need to start making DVD's of what I film. Now, Video Studio 4.0 will let me render a MPEG-2, but I'm not sure what settings to use (i.e. resolution, bit rate, etc.). I'm guessing 720x480 and 4000 kbps and audio at 256 kbps. Can I then use Nero to burn the DVD?
With VCD's, I can burn several movies on a CD so I can skip ahead. Will the DVD work like this as well?
I guess if I want to add menus and stuff I could go with Ulead's DVD Movie Factory. Is that all that it would do for me considering what I already have? My last question is should I spend the $50 on DVD Movie Factory or spend $50 to upgrade Video Studio 4.0 to 6.0?
Again, I've been looking into this, but I'm still fairly new and incompetent with all this stuff!

Yes you can use 4000kbs and 256kbps audio.
    www.vcdhelp.com/dvd.htm
and read the dvdmystified faq for more details.

You cant just burn the mpeg2 video with Nero as Nero not yet support dvd authoring, you can use
    www.vcdhelp.com/burnmpg.htm#dvd
or use the included pioneer software.

DVD-authoring is a lot more different than (S)VCD authoring.
I would suggest first creating some SVCD's, then goto DVD... But that's just my opinion.
