  1. Hey Guys. I purchased a tuner / video capture card from Walmart for $20 and the thing sucks. The quality is horrible. I have definatelly learned my lesson with choosing a card.

I'm basically looking to purchase a capture card that is low on cost but can capture DVD Quality from TV. Or better yet, produce the same quality my TV would produce if watching it.

    Any recommendations for a card?

    Thanks in advance.

If you aren't worried about HD quality, then try a Hauppauge TV tuner card. They're rather decent. I'm looking to upgrade to an HD capable tuner device, because yes, I'm an a-hole who wants 110% perfection when it comes to quality.

A $20 capture card isn't necessarily horrible. There are only a handful of standard definition capture chips in common use and they can all deliver about the same quality. Implementation at the card, device, driver, and software levels varies. What's wrong with your caps? Maybe you're just seeing interlace comb artifacts?

I second Nator's recommendation of Hauppauge. I have a PVR-350 and while this does not do high def captures, it has severed me well for years for standard definition capturing.
