I have a 2GB AVI video uploaded to my server - what is recommended to play it? Everything I have tried doesn't seem to like to play such a large file. Any ideas?

make sure the avi is a fast start type .flv or .mp4 so the viewer doesn't have to wait until the entire file downloads and use something like the free jw player.

Why are you trying to play AVI that large over the web? What codec is the video? You need to reencode using H.264 MP4 with AAC audio at a reasonable bitrate and framesize. If it is still really big then break into smaller chunks.
