I'm trying to have the best of both worlds here: minimal quality loss and maximum editing capability. My source material is VOBs which I was going to run through Decryptor to segment out specific episodes, which I think would leave me with mpeg2s. I've heard good things about Womble for editing mpeg2s with smart-rendering and minimal quality loss. Problem is, it doesn't have a separate track for audio, which inhibits my editing capabilities. Is there a program that can separate out the audio from the video for editing without lossy conversion, or do you have to convert in order to have that feature?

    thanks.

Womble mpeg video wizard does have separate tracks for audio. There is one for video, one for titles, and one for music, and one for voice. I often add an MP3 sound file for my "home-made" music videos.

The sound-line editor and audio controls are pretty good, in my naive opinion (not being one who does much audio editing). I think it's a great tool for working with mpeg2 files, and the filters are really quite efficient too, even with re-encoding, but the titles or funky transitions put a lot of stress on the built in encoder.

    Good luck.
