Since HDV is an MPEG format, it would seem that to minimize quality loss when editing, it would be best to first convert to a lossless format before editing. A friend is planning an editing job on a HDV project and wants to start the job in Premiere PRO CS3 so he can use the Topaz filters. He then wants to move the project to Edius, which is the editor he prefers, to complete the job. He knows Edius like the back of his hand so that is his preferred environment but Edius doesn't support the Topaz plug-in. If he stays with HDV MPEG through the project, he won't be able to avoid double encoding the HDV MPEG and the resultant quality loss. Is there any more specific advice that I should give him?
