I have successfully solved the audio synch problems I had with my .avi files, and I have also successfully used the JOIN tool in ffmpegX... except in one case...

First I re-encoded (I know, I probably decreased the video quality a tad that way) and the audio on the individual segments is perfectly synched now. I made sure they both had the same bit rate, etc, basically the same parameters for each segment. Then I use the tool JOIN to have the final full-lenght movie. It had worked beautifully in three others, but on this one, the audio of the second segment gets progressively out of synch.

Do you guys have any advice on how to solve this? Should I demux and mux again? I have not tried that, so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Ok. here is the update. I was not able to correct this using ffmpegX, but the solution turned out to be simple. I used the Split & Concat app (shareware), and it joined the files without any fuss. Now I have a playable full lenght movie with no audio problems.

Split & Concat joins files without regard for content. That is, if both parts have headers (meta data), then the concatenated file will have two headers, one being in the middle. That could potentially confuse players and converters.
But if the original file was split with a Split & Concat-like tool, then such a join is exactly what you want.

In other words: while it may work for this specific file, do not rely on it for every join job.
