it says this program converts to various audio files including flac. when i open the gui though (eac3to conversion utility v2.00) it only shows an option for ac3 bit rate, it also gives some true hd options like little endian and big endian, and pcm override, which i don't understand.

how do i convert to flac with this program?

  2. 1) Set your program paths in the 1st tab

    2) Add source file, select your .m2ts

    3) In the 2nd tab, load the .m2ts "Input file or folder"

    3) Select the track number of the TrueHD track from the drop down menu; if it's the main track it's probably #2; type in a filename .e.g "myfile", select "save as type" , the extension as flac

    4) Push run commmand line (tab specific)

    Done!

Here is more info (command line)

thanks, i did get that far (i was using a different gui before which did not have the option), but now the audio file i produced doesn't sync up with video.

    what i did was:

demux the m2ts file with tsmuxer
convert audio to flac with eac3to
merge flac file with demuxed x264 file with mkvmerge

the audio is way off, now i'm tinkering with the ms delay in mkvmerge, but altering this in small amounts, and re-merging the file repeatedly seems like it could take forever. i might try making a segment of the movie, to make that process easier but still.... is there a better way?

another movie that i downgraded from dts hd to dts while demuxing with tsmuxer, and then again merged with mkvmerge, plays perfectly. converting the audio after seems to have something to do with it.

    thanks,

another option i tried was to convert my true hd file to dts using eac3to.
it wouldn't process it though, first it broke the stream down into 6 individual wav files, then a message came up that surcode dts encoder was not installed.

i located and installed surcode, and then now after it creates the 6 wav files, a message comes up saying something about files need to be loaded into surcode, and it stops at that point.

surcode itself comes with a gui, and i didn't want to get this complicated, but i just wanted to see if it would work:
i created 6 wav files, again with eac3to, unfortunately it would not alter the frequency of the files directly through the gui, i put in the commands to override, and convert to 41,000Khz, but they still come out as 48k, which the surcode gui will not accept, it only wants 41k files.
on a mission at this point, i batch converted the wav files with Switch, to 41k, loaded them into surcode gui, and ended up with a much smaller file, but it only had 2 channels, according to mediainfo, so i had to scrub that too.

How is surcode supposed to be setup with eac3to and more gui, to encode dts?

    thanks again,
    rlr
