LG DVD 5253 - region free?

First let me say, I'm not sure if this is the right forum. I didn't see a DVD hack forum.

Basically I'm searching for a region free hack for my LG DVD 5253 player. I've googled it no end, and even found references to hacks for this model here at videohelp.com. But - only VCD hacks are mentioned here. All searches I have done lead one place:

Varous sites say "Look at this link - region free hack is here" http://www.area450.co.uk/lg5083hack.htm

But this is a broken link. No sign of any info about the LG 5253 at all. So it's a dead end ! thing is I'm sure I found some reference to the need for a special CD-R to be placed into this DVD player that does the trick. Can anybody throw any light on this? Maybe sum one out there has successfully freed their LG 5253 from the shackles of Region 2?

several older LG players, including the 5253 one:

hello, i've followed everything tat they sid,
i burned the rtm... folder to a disc
i loaded the disc into the dvd-player(ht 302)
but it does nothing, can anyone help me?
it finds the cd but it does nothing?
