Hello,
I'm a little new to video editing and conversion. I know a little about containers (AVI, MKV) and encoders (H.264, AVC1, etc).
Here is the issue. I just got a Sony DVD HD camcorder (HRD-UX10). I opted for the Sony Movie Studio 8 Platinum because I've read good things about it on here.
I recorded a test video on my camcorder on the HD 1080 (1920x1080) setting. The quality looks amazon on the TV via the camcorder. I imported the .mts stream into Movie Studio 8 and when I preview, looks amazing as well. Now, when I try to export it to a compatible format (AVI) via the "Render As" option, no matter what setting I choose, the quality is awful. Just as well, I imported some videos I had before and got from the net (high quality VOB), and I can't seem to export (re-encode) in any format that looks good via Movie Studio.
So what should I do for my camcorder movies and others?
