I'm trying to use Non- RT effects in a chain. Suppose I chain Vibrato and Volume, and want to use this combo in several events. When I create the chain, and save the present, it turns out only one of the two, the active (depressed) one, is saved. I can save either individually, but not together. Why?

If I do something similar in the track audio effects, it works fine. Three chained effects gets saved in a preset as three chained effects.

In neither case, do these newly defined plug-in-ish presets appear in the list of Plug-ins. I guess they end up in Project Media.

Are you saving them from the Plugin Chooser window ?

On mine, if saved from the Plugin Chooser window (Save As), the new package appears under the FX Packages branch in the same Plugin Chooser window.

If you have Sound Forge installed, these FX Packages are also available in SF, and packages created in SF are available to use in Vegas.

See my two attachments. I may have to post twice to get them here.
The first shows the plug-in chain. They The second is the preset. I've changed on plug-in by adjusting the curves. Regarding the chooser, ah, that Save As! They sure know how to move the save around. Here it's a button, but in the preset it's a disk icon. OK, I saved it (as WW-ta-da, but don't see it listed in All. At least in alpha order. Ah, it's in FX packages. Apparently, that's not in All. Yikes.

So what's with the funky one at a time in presets? I guess it makes some sense, but, as far as I can tell, not here.

Thanks for the help. The users guide and my book on Vegas offer no clues about this.

I'll repost the second if it doesn't make it.

The preset only saves the setting for that plugin. If you want to save a chain of plugins, add all of them in the chainer, and set each plugin until you have it all sey up the way you want it to be. The click on the add plugin button to open the window you have in your bottom post. Use the Save As button in that window to save the chain, including all plugins and their settings at that point in time. This new chain will appear under the FX Packages branch when you next go to add a plugin.

How can I click on the Add plug-in after I've set the individual presets? The only way out of the presets is to click OK. My procedure so far has been:
    Open chooser.
    Add plug-ins.
Click OK to go to Take/preset dialog. (or,per discovery of Save as, first save the chain, then use OK)
Modify plug-ins and save each as preset in Take window
Click OK and Save as when it appears.
This last step produces the Take. I don't see how it saves in the Plugin chain the modified plug-ins.

The first green icon is to add a plugin to the chain. The next one, with the red cross, takes the active plugin out of the chain. Neither of these affect the settings of the plugins in the chain. Add all the plugins you need, adjust their settings, then click on the Add Plugin icon once more. Now you can click on Save As to save the entire chain, with it's current settings, as an FX Package, which can be called back, intact, at any point in the future.

Click this icon (above) to bring up the next screen (below)

Click Save As to save your plugin chain with all current settings into FX Packages for use later, or in Sound Forge

Load the first, submit the post, then edit it and add the second.

Not yet. That's why I use Sound Forge at home. It chains in the same manner as Vegas. Have a look at the Studio version
