  1. Hi, i just bought a new processor intel core 2 duo e7300,kingston hyperx 8500,asus p5q mobo,seagate 500gb with 100 mbps read/write. Than i quickly oced it too 3.5ghz,with about 13k everest ultimate result.
I tried to create a 2hrs dvd movie file, i found that not much different in speed compared to my old processor amd64 athlon 3700. So here i would like to know u guys performance. thanks

Well you did not mention if the applicaiton you are using recognizes dual core processors. It should be quite a bit faster even if it doesn't specifically use dual core to the fullest capability.

However newer applicaitons are designed to utilizes both cores (or all available cores if you have a triple or quad core chip).

I upgraded from a athlon singl core 2.5 to a dual core amd 2.7ghz on the same pc and noticed significant overall improvements. I can convert a two hour dvd rip to wmv with corel dvd copy 6 in about half the running time of the movie itself - roughly an hour give or take. I am definitely satisfied with the improvements.

Sorry I can't help you there. I recently purchased pinnacle studio 12 so I am not used to newer ulead products.

I'd do a net search for ulead 12 and dual core and you might find something.

It might be already configured if it isn't more than two or three years old. I can't say for sure though...

Check your RAM, Vista likes plenty of it.

  10. It sounds like UVS is only using one thread to encode. See if it has a setting that lets you specify 2 threads.

  12. Also verify that Windows is using both cores. You should see two "CPU Usage History" graphs in Windows Task Manager.

Sometimes an application will select between single and multithreaded versions when it's installed (Divx for example).

  13. iv verify it, it set to core 1 n 0 . the graft clearly show that softwares using only 1 core while i already set it into both core

One test you might try is graysky's benchmark. It will use 100% of each core and it's one way to check the performance of your system. https://forum.videohelp.com/topic347859.html As mentioned, you can monitor the CPU usage in Task Manager. If your system crashes, it may also tell you if your OC is a bit too aggressive. I would also run a temperature monitoring program at the same time. You probably have a advanced CPU cooler as the stock ones don't perform well with a OC'd CPU. You would want temperatures below 70C, preferably closer to ~40C when encoding.

My latest encoder is a quad core Intel Q9300, OC'd to 3Ghz with 4GB RAM. It runs about 43 - 45C during encodes at 100% CPU. I only get close to 100% usage on all cores with H.264, Xvid and Divx codecs.

  15. my pc is completely stable 24/7 for now..im expcd overcloker. while encoding cpu temp r about 40-50c with deepcool killerwhale cpu cooler. Iv noticed that encode using divx will use 100% of cpu. The wierd is if im using favc/convertXtodvd 3 it will use close to 100% of cpu, but with UVS /pinnacle it only use 1 core..with the same avi file. something to do with codec setting or that software?

  16. 50 percent CPU usage indicates UVS is only using one thread. Either its encoder is single threaded or you must find a settings somewhere within the program to make it use more than one thread.
