  1. My Aiptek A-HD+ 1080p SD card/hard drive Hi-Definition camcorder uses .mov, .mp4/H.264 for video, with AVC video codec, and the audio is .mp3 with AAC codec.

Since I use Windows Movie Maker, it can't support .mov, .mp4/H.264 cuz it's gay like that. Because of that, I've been spending months searching for programs that can edit these files. So far, I've found programs that can support it, but the video is always screwed up with the sound stuttering, the video being choppy or in slow-mo, etc.

Converters r a big NO for me, cuz number one, they take FOREVER to convert, most of them suck cuz they have to be purchased, and Windows Movie Maker crashes or encounters problems all the time with these produced files. It's also usually not lossless this way. I need them to be lossless (lossless means the video wont be screwed up by conversions, right? ).

I've tried tons and tons of different video editors, and converters. I've been to a lot of forums also, and over these motnhs I still can't get any answers. I really need to join my six .mov/.mp4/H.264 files that I filmed today at an event called "Pug-o-Ween" for pug owners, to play as one clip. But these videos can't play right in ANY media player or editor. They videos r always choppy, slo-mo, audio stuttering or echoing, etc., like I previously mentioned.

Plz I really need help on this!! I've been asking these same questions for several months. I seriously can't believe that nobody can help me resolve this issue. It's getting a bit rediculous. I'm really getting annoyed that I can't edit my analog or real-life videos due to the fact they consist of a type of HD file (H.264/.mp4 file, AVC codec) that no media player or editing software can seem handle properly.

I desperatly need help on this. It's been going on forever. Thx very, very, VERY much in advance!

There are many free converters that will do a decent to excellent job of converting the video. I don't know what format or player "Pug-o-ween" uses, so I can't suggest a specific conversion (other than DVD, with DVDFlick). Maybe even try FAVC.

Lossless means no dip in quality, though with the right converter, you can have little discernible quality loss. You can also batch encode while you sleep, if time is a factor.

Try MPC for playback. It works great for videos that I get from a friend who uses that camera (thinking of getting one for myself).

Why aren't you complaining to Aiptek? I'd love to hear their response.

Build another machine for conversions only. I acquired a P4 2.6 GHz machine for free from a friend who said it didn't work. Turns out he was wrong and a little bit of tinkering got it up and running in a couple hours. That machine will only be used for conversions. I'm certain you can probably do the same if you look around for someone who wants to dump an older machine and buy a newer one....

Well me and my mom found a video editing software called CyberLink PowerDirector 7, and it said it can support and play back these files. I already have a media player that can play my videos, it's called ArcSoft Digital Theater that came with the camcorder, so I don't need MPC.

  8. Womble MPEG Video Wizard DVD is a fantastic editor and can export to a bunch of different formats. I was surprised when it accepted my similar hd-video-camera and allowed me to edit the file (exactly the same as MPEG-2 Video). I think it may be a smaller, quicker, more effective editor than the Cyberlink software you're using, but I can't compare due to not owning it.

Um I don't know if u ppl know this already but I kinda had this problem solved since a long time ago thanks to a member of this forum (sincostan45).

I use SUPER to convert my .mov files to .avi, then I can edit them in WMM and export them as a DV~AVI, then I use VirtualDub to export it as an .avi again but with XviD compression because the DV~AVI file is usually over 1 GB, so VirtualDub reduces the huge file size but at the same time saving it as a high quality video and still an .avi. The whole process usually takes a half hour maybe. Then their ready for uploading to YouTube, which takes at least 3 hours.

If you use the Womble software I mentioned, you can go right from editing to exporting to XVID/MP4 without having to convert to avi. Your choice, I guess.

Nah it's alright. I'd rather stick to my method since I'm already used to it.
