hi
today i have tried 5 software programs purporting to convert dvd to a single avi file, sadly none of which worked , some gave back 17 avi files after converting a dvd.
aoa video converter
intertech dvd converter
imtoo dvd converter
super dvdripper
dvdripper 4
not one of these programs did what it said on the tin.
I have a large collection of non copywrited railway dvds i wished to convert any one of these dvds to a single avi file for further posting on sites such as demonoid.
everybody else is posting these types of dvds as a single avi file but sadly i cannot do it and its driving me nuts.
have searched and searched for any information as to how to do it and what prog to use but to no avail, surely its gotta be reasonably simple, i just cannot get any info about it.
any help much appreciated

Try AutoGK. Most of those programs you listed are just freeware programs others have adopted and now charge for.
To crunch a 4+ GB DVD down to a 700MB file takes quite a bit of processing power and time, especially if you want to retain some quality. I would look into the H.264 codec and maybe try a program like FairUse Wizard. There is a freeware version available. Or if you want to use Divx/Xvid, consider making the files about 1GB. The download time will increase, but the quality will be much better.
If you need to convert encrypted DVDs for your own use, you will need to add in a DVD ripper. DVDFab HD Decrypter is a good choice.
