When I insert my avi file into PowerPoint 2003 (Windows XP), the replay is always in fast forward taking seconds -- Though I play the file in my windows media player, it can be played well. Is there someone ever met the similar problem? The AVI file use xvid codec and I have already installed xvid codec.

Power Point works best with WMV files. On the odd occasions that I have to use Power Point (I am not a fan of any slideshow presentation - Power Point, Keynote etc) then I convert the video to WMV first and never have a problem. Mpeg-1 is another alternative that usually works well.
