  1. I just bought the ATI AIW 128 (not pro). I cannot get Virtual Dub to recognize the capture card. I can use it just with the ATI software it came with but VirtualDub will not see it, nor will FreeVCR.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

  3. A little more informations concerning your configuration as regards OS and driver versions would help. If like me you are using Windows 2k, ensure you have DirectX 8.1 installed as this includes the DV update which you need for VirtualDub and even the TV application to work. Apart from that we need more infor such as versions of display drivers, the Multimedia Center application and DirectX

  4. I have the following configuration:

    AMD K6-2 500
    256mb ram
32mb ram on the video card.

I was using on that system:

Win ME all the appropriate drivers installed
Direct X 8.1 with the capture update

I reformatted the hard drive last night to use Win2k. Havn't got around to downloading Direct X 8.1 with the update.

Anything else I can provide let me know. I need to get these old movies off of VHS because they don't make them on DVD.

    Thanks

  5. Also it is the drivers that came with the unit, which according to ATIs website, those are the most updated. But if there are more updated ones let me know.

Also does Service Pack 1 for Win 2000 need to be loaded?

I have an ATI AIW 128 Pro.

The problem with ATI and VirtualDub is in ATI drivers... ATI drivers are WDM models and I suppose that VirtualDub only works with VFW (video for windows) drivers...

I was not able to make ATI work with virtualDub until I have installed the VFWWDM wrapper I found this site... Now virtualDub recognizes ATI as a capture device and works GREAT!!!

search for WRAPPER this site... there is a link to download it and have FUN!!
