Hi there- I am very new at using ffmpegx and converting .mts to .avi. I have downloaded ffmpegx, with the plug-ins and necessary files, and I am trying to convert my .mts files to .avi to use in Final Cut Pro or I-Movie. I convert the .mts, and then I try to check the files by opening them with other programs such as quicktime, mpeg streamclip or I-Movie, and I get a message stating that the clip is too short or that Quicktime couldnot parse it. Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch.

Final Cut and iMovie are designed to get AVCHD directly from the camera (Log and Transfer). They have (as yet) no support for .mts files.

I do not have access to .mts files, so I wouldn't know how ffmpegX handles them.
    - When you drop the file on the ffmpegX window, does the Summary say that it recognizes the streams? What kind of video and audio does it detect?
    - Does the conversion take some time, or is it done almost immediately? (The latter would indicate a failed conversion.)
    - What is the filesize of your converted output? (A zero KB sized file can't be processed for lack of content.)
    - For failed conversions, it would be helpful if you could post the Process Information log, so we know what ffmpegX was trying and where in the process it gave up.
