  1. I still have a lot of questions about DiVX, and a guess a lot of other people have it aswell. Hope you (admin) can give a respons to this.. and other people too.

    Some of my questions:
    1. What size is acceptable in a DiVX movie considering encoding it to TV ? (640x272 or ?)
    2. When I encode divx -> mpeg, and play it on TV, I have to set the TV to 16:9 to view the movie. How can I avoid this ?

Hope you all contribute to this issues..

  2. there really should NOT be a divx forum cuz divx is mostly used to capture and these questions should be put in the capture forum.

    I will help u anyway-

Lets say u want to encode in vcd(352x240;352x288)
If ur source is divx, u want to always make sure that for vcd, to ensure best quality, ur divx movie has a res of no lower than 352x240, that way u dont have to stretch the video out.

Same thing appies to svcd- 480x480;480x576

Now, lets say u have a divx movie like 640x272.

I have had some like that before. U CAN encode them using svcd and the quality rarely makes blocks as in new ones compared to original.

    16:9 is highly wide screen.
This is what i do, since i dont know what kinda tv u got(widescreen digital, and so on)

In tmpgenc in the video and advanced tab- i set my movie to 4:3 display.
I always encode in svcd so there you have it
    ShiZZZoN PzN

Everyday is another payday and I am one step closer to becoming the one.

For your divx needs visit www.doom9.org or www.divx-digest.com , I have no plans for any more divx ripping/encoding information on this site at the moment...

    2. How do you convert to mpg? If using tmpgenc be sure to select correct under setttings->advanced->aspect ratio and source range method.
