I am in the process of converting over 28,000 feet of Super 8mm film to DVD. I am using Studio 12 and I am having problems using menus. The person I am doing this for wants a menu option to view the entire DVD or go to a menu to select a particular portion of the video. I used the menu with the two selections and the option to view the entire DVD works until I add menu returns in the stream for individual videos. The video will now go back to the menu after the first video while trying to play the entire DVD. Pinnacle says the only way they can do it is to put TWO sets of videos on the DVD and use menu selections that way. Yes, that works BUT to me that is unacceptable as it will take twice the amount of DVD's and more than twice the time to complete the task. With all that said, without downloading and trying all the available DVD software out there, what is the "best" program to use?
Any suggestions will be appreciated,
Thanks,
Len

This is easy to do in Ulead DVD Workshop.

Thanks for the info. I D/L'd a trial copy and gave it a try BUT I will have to read some of the "how-to" info as I am used to Studio 12 and may have to relearn the way things get done.
Thanks Again !!

I am currently using Studio 11 which should be similar to your Studio 12 in function. To accomplish what I believe you need, do the following:
Prepare a menu with chapters at all the points desired.
Add to the menu one chapter at the very beginning of the movie -- this may coincide with your first chapter -- title this something like Play All or Play Movie.
Do not create automatic returns. This, of course, will mean that wherever the viewer starts, the movie will continue playing to the end unless the viewer takes action with the remote control.
If your chapter titles run to multiple pages and don't function properly, make each of your pages a separate menu and convert the "previous" and "next" buttons into normal buttons that take you to the next or previous menus.
After all of this, the buttons on Studio in DVD viewer mode should take you where you wish to go. Also, the DVD remote control when viewed on a player should provide the ability to return to either the next menu layer up and/or the top menu.
If this arrangement is unacceptable to your client, I'm afraid the other options in the forum may be your only choice. Good luck. -
THANKS for the procedure. I will make a short DVD and present to my client for approval. I have been looking at Ulead DVD Workshop and I believe it will do what is required BUT I will have to learn all the options to accomplish the task.
Thanks Again,

There is one like that for a reasonable cost and it is DVD Lab.
There is also a DVD Remake which will allow you to re author DVD after compilation and by adding a cell commands, will let you do what you desire with one file. -
