Dear FlyVideo capture card users,
I'm currently able to capture using MGI VideoWave 4 (using Huffyuv) as well as ULead VideoStudio on my WinMe system... and encode using TMPEGEnc 2.51 w/ tooLame. I've already tried installing the latest 20.36K drivers from LifeView but they don't seem to work.
VirtualDub throws the following messages:
"Error 418: Capture device was not detected."
"VirtualDub cannot connect to the desired capture driver. Trying all available drivers."
"PANIC: VirtualDub cannot connect to any capture drivers!"
Obviously, VirtualDub cannot communicate with my capture card and/or driver. I know VirtualDub isn't broken, but it just seemed odd since the card works well with the 2 other retail video editing softwares I mentioned above. And I know my hardware specs are adequate so no need to dwell on that topic.
I just want to test if I can get better capture results using VirtualDub, and I'm not really interested in buying other capture cards as of the moment or downloading other capture utilities.
Again, I know that VirtualDub isn't broken, but it doesn't let me specify at least what capture card I have/want to use on my system. I've already checked that the vendor WDM drivers are installed, and I think that the capture card is Video for Windows compatible--although I read somewhere something regarding WDM and ATI capture cards.
Anyway, so my questions would be:
1. Has anyone had any success getting VirtualDub 1.4.8 (Capture AVI...) to work with FlyVideo 2000?
2. Also, in WinMe Control Panel-Sounds and Multimedia-Devices tab, how do you "register" your capture card in the Video Capture Devices group?
P.S. Yes, I had already researched virtualdub.org as well as the various guides on vcdhelp.com. The forum's search function was offline, so my apologies if this had already been asked before.
Peace and Happy Valentines to all. :-)

If this solution doesnt help, try even the Win 95/98 drivers and you should be back in business.
Please note that I have had difficulties with the TV tuner application as it tends to lockup the computer, as does VirtualDub, when using the 16 bit drivers.
