Be more specific. Here is a start list of known Vista capable programs.

I use Vista 32 on my main desktop and laptop (both dual core). I keep an XP/Linux machine going for older software (also a Core2Duo). Soon I'll make it Vista/XP/Linux tripple boot.

Sounds like you are having problems with uac, just goto control panel/user accounts and turn user account control off and reboot.

TweakUAC is a simple program to tone down UAC. I don't really advise to turn it off unless you have all your anti-malware up to speed. It has a 'Quiet' mode that is a good compromise so you don't get those continual pop ups: http://www.tweak-uac.com/download/

I haven't ran into any problems with DEP in Vista. Maybe some programs that are marginal with Vista might have problems.

If you are converting AVI type videos to DVD, try FAVC, ConvertXToDVD or some of the other popular All-in-One programs. They shouldn't have any problems related to Vista.
