Not sure how to do this. The file is a video from my camera, and is on my computer as a quicktime file. When i play it on my computer its not too bad, as soon as a put it on you tube it is really dark. I have pinnicle, but everytime i go to use it it freezes. Is there any other way i can do this with out buying a new program.

You can use several tools to brighten the video, like the FREE avidemux,
Open the mov file
Under Video choose mpeg4 xvid
Under Filters and Colors double click on the Contrast to change the brightness. Hit Ok
Last Save and save as video.avi
Upload to youtube -
thanks ive downloaded that, but when i try to open it, it tells me it has a fatal error

In avidemux, on the dropdown menu where it says "Input" (next to "Calculator"), click the down-arrow and choose "Side" for a side-by-side before-and-after view, or "Output" to see just the video with the filter(s) applied, or one of the other choices for a different view.

Yep, the main preview shows the source. Just Save and it will reconvert with the brightness changed.

when I save it, it doesnt save as a video file and i cant open it, it just saves as a file.

Avidemux doesn't automatically give a file an extension based on the container you're saving to, so you need to either give it an extension when you save it, or if you didn't do that, then go to the file it gave you and tack on an .avi or .mp4 or whatever to the end of it.
