Circuit City temporarily yanks MAD Magazine over parody ad UPDATED

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Ignoring Alfred E. Neuman's mantra of "What, me worry?," Circuit City Stores Inc. temporarily banished the irreverent MAD Magazine from its store's shelves for poking fun at the consumer electronics retailer.

That is such poor taste doing that. It only bring more negative media attention to the retailer.

This reminds me of Atari threatening lawsuits to game review sites that gave its games negative reviews by saying the sites used illegal, pirated copies to review. However other sites which even stated that they had pirated a copy in order to review it but gave the game good ratings were oddly left alone by Atari.

Rather than leading people away from the magazine, they've actually alerted more people to its existence, therefore spiking curiosity to see it.
