Which is best to burn a movie? dvd-r or dvd+r?

only matters if your dvd player is a older model because most didn't have the capability to playback DVD+R.

Unless your player specifically says that it will only read one type (and some old players are like this) then it doesn't really matter much which. Just make sure you don't buy cheap generic media. Read www.nomorecoasters.com if you are unsure what to buy.
The exception is Dual Layer media, where +R DL is far superior in compatibility to -R DL, and where Verbatim is arguably the only brand to buy.Read my blog here.
