Just getting back into video after several years.

I have SONY DCR-TRV310 Digital8 and would like to upgrade to a better sony camera, still retainig the Digital8 tape format.

What Sony camera would be suggested, its difficult to determine

Been looking on ebay! and Craigslist but with all the diffrent cameras its confusing as to what the dirffences are!

    Thanks Sir William

Newer Digital8's are dumbed down and are in closeout. The better ones are used upper range from 2001-2004.

    The desirable features include:

    - analog pass through capture
    - ability to play and transcode Video8/Hi8. (your 310 does this)
    - better camera section (rare)

Avoid the newer price/feature reduced models.

That is where the work comes in. There were so many models over the years. Look for those features and you have a good one. Usually upper 300-800 series but not always.
