Is there something out that would have all of the features of the Hauppage HD DVR, but work without a computer?
Something like the upcoming Neuros OSD2, a standalone recorder, but that also has digital audio recording capibilities?

The Gefen looks pretty good, but it doesn't have it all. No digital audio recording, only stereo. And it doesn't offer flexibility when working with HDCP encoded material - you can't move this material to a NAS, for example.

I'm looking for something to back up SD & HD DVD's and HD broadcasts, a standalone unit that will record them through the component video feed to a Hard Drive or straight to my NAS through the network, and also record the digital 5.1/7.1 audio, encoding into an mp4 or AVC file. Then I'll serve these from my NAS to anywhere in the house, using something like the Popcorn Hour at each TV.
