  1. I'm very new to making vcd's, but made my first couple the other day. I don't have a standalone dvd player, but I'm quite happy to play them through my pc. This is my question;
    The vcd's play fine through Power dvd 3.0, no probs, but when I tried 'em in a m8's Tosh standalone dvd (which I know Tosh have probs)they were skipping, freezing and jumping all over the place. Now if my back ups were bad, would they still play ok in Power dvd, cos from reading on this forum, I know that all pc dvd's will play vcd's. So does this mean they are bad, but the pc dvd will play them anyway, or they are good and the Tosh dvd is shite. Sorry, if this sounds confusing, but being new to this I'm trying to determine if my back ups are ok.
    Thanx.

    More than likely that dvd player isnt able to read the media you burt on very well. Check the dvd player list on this site to find out what brands of cdr and cdrw work best on that brand of Toshiba player. Try it again on a better supported brand and see if it works.

    If it plays in a software dvd player as a vcd than it should be authored correctly. Loading it in file mode or playing the dat file in media player doesnt tell you anything though because it would play even if it were completely non-compliant.

  3. Toshiba players are just REALLY picky about what they will play. It's the definitely the player.
