Baseball Player Suffers Testicular Fracture Injury

PHOENIX -- On a painful day in the desert, the Arizona Diamondbacks put left fielder Eric Byrnes and catcher Chris Snyder on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Byrnes is out with a strained left hamstring, Snyder with a left testicular fracture.

For Byrnes, the move comes eight days after he came off the DL, where he spent a month with injuries to both hamstrings.

Byrnes hurt his hamstring as he tried to steal third in the second inning of Arizona's 6-3 victory over Milwaukee on Monday night. Byrnes pulled up as he went into his dive, never reached the bag and was thrown out by Jason Kendall.

Arizona manager Bob Melvin said he didn't think Byrnes had come back too soon.

"How he felt, and the feedback we were getting from him, he was healthy enough to come back and felt like healthy enough to play on an everyday basis," Melvin said.
