OPPO 983H or Blu-Ray with DVD Upconversion?

I have over 2,000 DVDS and haven't upgraded to Blu-Ray YET, but eventually will. My question is, does the average Blu-Ray player with DVD upconversion produce as good, or a better DVD picture than the infamous OPPO 983H that produces about the best DVD upconversion of any upconverting DVD player?

The general consensus is no. Most of the BD players are not especially good at upscaling and deinterlacing DVDs. The good news is that unless you have a 70" or larger display, the Oppo 980 will do an outstanding job and isn't expensive at all. I consider my Oppo 980 to be the best bang for the buck I've ever gotten from a video component. Truly amazing picture.
