It's been a while since I kept up with the newer video editing suites. I have used extensively Ulead Studio 9 and Adobe Premiere 3 and they both seem to have it's pros and cons. Seeing that every competitor in this space has newer technology out, I thought I would ask for opinion here. What would be a good suite to purchase for capturing, editing and burning movies on to DVD & web?

Stability is high on the list. ULead 9 was much better than 7 and Premiere Premiere Elements 3 has a higher learning curve. That is my impression of the 2. What would you recommend? Vegas perhaps? Premiere Elements 4?

well 2 of your three requests are covered by freeware. winDV and imgburn are the best for capturing and burning. as for editing, ulead is up to 11.5 i think and as for premier i'd go with pro 3. but, vegas pro 8 is about as good as any sane person could ever need for personal use. i've been using vegas since version 6 and i don't think it's ever crashed.

what you seem to have left off the list is an authoring program. you have one or forgot about that part of the process?

I use Ulead videostudio 11.5 and find it does most things reasonbly well for a modestly priced piece of software.

Version 12 has been released in Japan so I would expect it to be worldwide shortly.

There is also a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable users forum.

    Regards
