I also just got my ADVC-100 and it would be great if someone could start a forum or mailing list for ADVC owners. I have Windows XP but am still using fat32 and I would like to keep it that way. Have you figured out the best way to get around the 4 gig limit yet.

I've installed xp and have formated two 80gb hard drives to NFTS. I no longer have a file size limit. One drive is used only for video capture the other for games and data. So far so good. You could partition your hard drive part fat32 and the other NFTS with no capture limit or install a second hard drive and format to NFTS. If you have space for a second drive and already have a cable buy only a bare hard drive with xp you don't need software xp will format the drive for you. If you want more detail just let me know I will explain how to do it.

I just got partition magic 7.0 and wonder if you can help me. I would like to make a 25 gig partition on the fast part of my 40 gig drive. I have managed to make a partition but how do I make it on the fast section.
Thanks -
The program ScenalyzerLive is what you're looking for, if you're after DV capture and file segmenting. It's truly a great capture program!

if you've done a partition, you can use like winxp to convert fat32 -> ntfs via a command line from the prompt.
example: convert D: /fs:ntfs
doesn't take any time at all i've done it with all my disks (3)

After doing much research I also decided on the Canopus ADVC-100 and ordered it yesterday. I have sceneanalyzer so the 2/4G limit is no problem. It automatically breaks up capture into 2 or 4 Gig files. Just $33 to register. I'm looking forward to yanking out my DC10+ card since I won't need it and it stopped working when I upgraded to Pinnacle Studio 7. I hope this is the ultimate solution for capturing DV and Analog.

Hi all
Going to buy one too.
Wheree is a good place to buy one.
And also, how does it handle old VHS NTSC tapes. I have old family videos with glitches, black spots, and fast zooming, action and panning. How does the quality hold for coping this stuff? How is the sound sync?
I agreem I would love to find just a forum on this board.
Please post any info you have tested, or problems.
Thanks
I have a raptor card I would use with this. -
I have the advc too after seeing a friends captures. I don't understand why everyone wants to deal with all the crap that comes along with fat32 and then if that's not bad enough, XP. Win2k SP2 is the most setitandforgetit solution there is. You don't have to deal with all the splitting and remerging crap with FAT32 when you use NTFS, and all those odd xp problems that keep popping up in the forums all the time aren't an issue. Personally I think XP looks like they contracted Fisher Price to design the UI. What are the reasons you guys have for sticking with FAT32 and using XP with all it's problems?

I ordered my ADVC-100 here:
http://www.guygraphics.com/
I can't comment on this vendor or the converter yet since I won't get mine until next week. They shipped it out right away and sent me a tracking number. Thunes: Its not a card but an external analog to digital converter box which inputs via your existing firewire port. It works in both directions, converting digital from your computer to analog as well. 8)
I will report back when I get the box and try it out.PIV-2.4G ASUS MB, 1G Mem, WinXP -
