Just curious: Why CD-R when DVD media and DVD burners are dirt cheap.
As a guess: I suspect the choppiness may have something to do with the bitrate- unless it's an mp4 recorded at low quality or 15 frames per second. If it was recorded at 15 fps, there's very little that can fix that.;/ l ,[____], Its a Jeep thing,

There is no way to answer without more information. What was the source? How was it converted? What are the file specs?
And I agree with the others. A 100 pack of CDR's is $15-20. A 100 pack of DVD-R's is $20-25. There is really no reason to even have to bother with these types of conversion.Google is your Friend -
A view Standalone player have problems with miniDVDs. They detect a CD - and canīt speed it up to get the DVD video played fine.
Iīm also using miniDVDs (on CD) - for only one reason: some chapters of animes, for the kids. 15 minutes per episode / Cd.
The CDs stand more against the rough use the kids gave them (never in a cover, right to the floor after watching, dirty fingers etc)
And still cheaper - and the Kidsī 20 dollar Player play them well. -
I used Nero 6 to burn miniDVD(CDR) because it has a miniDVD template. Most DVD players that can play miniDVD,and there aren't many, will stutter severly because of a DVD's high bitrate. Most players start to stutter over 5mbits. If your compressing the DVD I would use DVDshrink for that, because in my expierence it reduced the bitrate more than other DVD compression programs. I would agree with the other commenters, miniDVD dosen't make much sense with the low cost of DVD disks and burners.

And still cheaper: well, I was wrong about that - meant it in another way....
I backup 6 episodes on one DVD - so this is really cheaper. (1 DVD instead of 6 CDs)
But as the kids destroy the DVDs too fast, or even got bored after watching it 3 times: better to make single CDs - so at least a few survive ... -
When creating cDVDs, the safest choice is to encode @ 352-->544x480/576,
so one never needs to go above 5000kbps.Also, CQ between 65% and
75% produces "watchable" quality and much-longer playing time.

Dragon Ball Z or Digimon.

I would simply burn two copies of the DVD. If they destroy the first one, you have a backup of all of the episodes. It will still be cheaper and waste less time until the users learn to take care of things.

Guys, c1steady hasn't bothered to respond in almost a week now. It's your decision, but I have to think if he/she REALLY was interested in your various speculations (how we got from the original post to someone concluding that it was about miniDVD is beyond me), he/she would have replied by now, but it's your time to waste.

Sorry guy, i was away for business trip after my posting. I ripped a DVD movies into 10 different chapter using DVD shrink. Then i tried copy 1 chapter into a CD_RW . But not working. My plan is to have 10 CD-R for 10 chapters on a VCD without any conversion.
I also try to convert to DVD to VCD format . I can play the VCD but the quality was so bad. therfore i dont want any coversion -
Your plan isn't working because DVD players can't spin the drive fast enough for CD-R media to allow high bit rate DVD playback. So trying to make this work with no conversion is NEVER going to work. Did I make myself clear? You do know what NEVER means, right?
Yes, VCD quality is generally poor. If you must use CD-R media, you must convert. Either convert to VCD or convert to Divx, but you must convert to use CD-R media. Just putting a video on CD-R does not magically make it a VCD. VCD is a format with specific requirements. -
And we are back to cost.....how is 10 CD's cheaper than one or two extra copies of the whole DVD? You are wasting a lot of time , effort and money on a really simple problem.

Becuase my son does not know how to shuttle between chapters. There is 10 chapters with 14 episode. He cannot go to chapter 5 straight. He need to to the end of each chapter and select next episode and so on to go to his favorite chapter. And this take time as well. With CR, he can select his favorite disc as and when
-
Actually, whether he's using a standalone or a computer, your son can go directly to each chapter. Most players let you input the chapter number directly, so if you want chapter 5, you push 5. Your son may actually know more about navigating a DVD than you (or at least more than you think).
Also, isn't it more time consuming o have to swap CDs every time he wants a different chapter? It seems that no matter how you look at it, DVD is the most cost effective and convenient solution. -
the problem is you cannot go to chapter 5 straight after i rip it from dvd shrink. to shuttle between chapter , u need to go the last episode of the chapter before going to the next chapter. after ripping, all menus have gone
-
There's tons of free programs that will let you put in the chapters, make a menu, or both. Check the Tools section.
BTW, how exactly are you ripping the discs? Even if you are re-authoring with dvdshrink, it will still keep the chapter points.
I'm not sure I follow your explanation either. Are you saying that each episode has a few chapters? If that's the case, simple math will fix that for you. I have episodes of Family Guy on season discs and each episode has 4 chapter points. When I want to go to the 4th episode, I select 16. The 6th, I select 24, and so on.
