  1. I have been trying to do movies on DL discs to get 100% quality but have encountered some problems. I use DVD Fab Decrypter to decrypt the movie to my HDD and then DVD Fab Platinum 4 to burn to a DL disc. It says its completed successfully but when I put it in my DVD player, it comes up with read errors. When I do the same process but burn only on a SL disc, it works flawlessly on my dvd player. Am I doing anything wrong?

Your DVD Player might not just support DVDR-DL or that DVDR-DL media brand.

What DVD DL media are you using?
Does the burned dvd dl work on your computer ?

  3. It works in my DVD burner and the original works in the player. I have had other DL that have worked and put them in my player and works flawlessly.

The brand of DVD DL I am using is Memorex.

First off, you don't say what brand of media you are using.

Second, why would you rip with DVD Fab Decrypter & burn back with DVD Fab Platinum 4

    Anywho, burn back with ImgBurn.....
But back to the DL media yuo are using......

When you say other DL, do you mean DVDR DL memorex then? or some other brand? or commercial DL DVDs?

  6. NO when I say other DL i meant others that I have burnt the same way. The last one I tried was Hitman which didnt work as DL.

Memorex discs are the biggest piece of crap media I have ever bought. They suck. They're not the worst on the market although they are very bad, but they are for sure the worst I ever bought.

People who want DL discs to work burn to Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. People who burn to anything else post here crying about how their burns don't work. Are your DL discs that work by Verbatim by any chance?

Finally, ImgBurn is what many of us use for DVD DL burning. Other programs are not reliable. I know nothing about how DVD Fab burns, but some programs (cough! cough! Nero!) are known to not always burn DL reliably.

  8. Hi there, sorry for the delayed response. I was writing final exams.

The DL discs that do work after I have burned them are actually the memorex brand. Do you think I should try the ImgBurn with the Memorex for the few that I do have left, and then try verbatim?

What about other brands like fuji, are they just as bad?

This is why they are NOT recommended - sometimes they burn and play OK, sometimes they don't.

Everything I've read over at the Imgburn forums indicates that the only reliable DL media is the Verbatim +DL. My own experience is "only" about 20 of them, but I have a 100% success rate, FWIW.

  10. I downloaded ImgBurn but dont really know how to use it. It asks for an ISO file. How do I make an ISO file from a dvd that I have already decrypted?

Also is there any list of the manufacturers that people rely on for quality?

If you have Video_TS and Audio_TS folders already, switch to "Build" mode.

  12. Ok so I did as Jim44 said to build the ISO in ImgBurn and then I loaded the MDF file into ImgBurn and it completed successfully. I have one problem now. I try playing the DVD on the computer and it comes up as: "Playback is impossible because CSS copy protection failed."

Try again using ONLY Verbatim DVD+R DL with ImgBurn, just like everyone has said. That is the most trouble-free combination you can get when burning double layer discs. There is absolutely no better advice anyone can offer you at this point.

  14. I will try that in a few days when I get some discs. I will let you know the outcome. Thanks

I realize that this entire forum is 100% behind that advice given. However, having burned a lot of Verbatim DVD+R DLs over the last couple of years, I have had more success using Shrink with Nero 6.6.0.15., than with ImgBurn. The reason of using Shrink at all (since it's not really needed otherwise) is to remove unwanted commentaries, and the like. BTW, I leave "Remove layer break" unchecked in 'Edit' > 'References'.

Even when getting 'Very Good' or 'Excellent' layer breaks in Imgburn, one or more of my DVD players / recorders (Pioneer Samsung, LiteOn, Toshiba) won't recognize the DVD and give error message. When I use the Shrink / Nero combination, I never have to worry about the best layer breaks, with the DVDs playing perfectly and error-free, in EVERY Player. Most people here don't like, or downright hate Nero (yes, certain versions are a challenge), but after wasting too many discs with ImgBurn, I personally will never go back. Hopefully you'll have better luck with the recommendations given here.
