DVD help, Protection!

Well I really don't know if this post is ok here, if is not then sorry. Well the problem is that i'm trying to rip a dvd in fact I had the problem with 2 semi-pro, national tresure 2 and over her dead body. they appear to have some kind of encryption or protection iss CSS/CPPM, I'm using rip4me, DVD decrypter and DVD shrink. I have never had this problem but DVD decrypter gives and error I/O error! No seek complete. Like he can't read but it happend with the 3 DVD so I find that hard to belive. If anyone knows a method to rip the movie while ignoring the CPPM then I would gladly accept the advice.

Yeah... try a ripping program that is actually updated for newer copy protections.

Also if you did a search you would find at least one other post about those same movies.

No seek complete...I'm thinking that normally means a drive problem/read problem, maybe media problem like when finalising a disc fails, something like that IIRC. I don't recall that type error to be associated with DVD copy protection. Then again, error messages can be hard to interpret. Besides, I've been wrong before. :P

Anyway, as to your method:

The rippers you mention haven't been updated in years, nor will they ever be. Get the latest version of DVDFabHDDecrypter (free), rip full disc, then open the ripped files in DVDShrink. If Shrink errors out, run FixVTS on the ripped files and try again. DVDShrink is sensitive to correct structure, if it doesn't complain, you're good to go. Then continue your regular method.

'No seek complete' is more common a burning error, not a reading error. But from Nero errors, I see this:

90% of the time this type of error message is caused by poor media, poor power to the recorder, or an optical head needing cleaning, or a drive needing to be serviced.

But it's only 90% of the time. On a rare occasion I've seen this caused by driver conflicts. Either from other software, or drivers for the IDE Controller
